Sioux Falls Mayor Mike Huether is being recognized nationally as a hero. Not for his work in politics, but for his lieflong passion for the sport of tennis.

The November/December issue of Tennis magazine is devoted to heroes from around the United States who are helping to advance the sport.

The Mayor and his wife Cindy are profiled in a story titled 'Building a Future'. The article chronicles the couples' donation of more than $800,000 of their own money since 2009 to help build indoor and outdoor tennis facilities in Sioux Falls. An effort that led to the Huethers being named the United States Tennis Association's Family of the Year in 2011.

In April of 2015, the Huethers were the driving force behind the opening of Sioux Falls' newest indoor public tennis facility, Huether Family Match Pointe, at the Sanford Sports Complex.

The article quotes Cindy Huether:

I don't want my legacy to be a name on a building, It's about providing access for everyone to play.

Huether Family Match Pointe houses six indoor hard courts, locker rooms, and a pro shop. It is the home of the South Dakota Tennis Hall of Fame.
