SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) - Forget about cash drawers. It seems that robbers striking restaurants in Sioux Falls have another target in mind: toilets.

A dozen fast food restaurants have been hit recently by a thief - or thieves - targeting brass flushers and other metal pieces that can be easily stolen in the privacy of the public restroom.

Kevin Kopsas tells KELO-TV that the parts are likely being sold for scrap. Kopsas should know: As manager of TJN Enterprises Operations, he runs the type of recycling business that buys such items.

Kopsas says the flusher out of a commercial bathroom weighs about four pounds, meaning a thief could get about $7 for one.

Kopsas says recycling businesses nationwide are seeing stolen toilet parts showing up on their lots.
