Every basketball court from rec league to playground to the NBA has a spot 15 feet from the rim.  Most playing surfaces have a stripe that is parallel to the baseline where you stand and shoot with no one guarding you.  A free throw is a basic exercise that penalizes a team for being too aggressive with contact.  However, failure to make that toss turns the penalty into a reward.

The Iowa Energy were rewarded with a win on Friday night 107-100 mainly because the Sioux Falls Skyforce went 2-14 from the free throw line in the fourth quarter.  Sioux Falls (22-19) was led by Mychel Thompson with 21 points plus Demetris Nichols added a double double of 19 points and 11 rebounds.  Iowa (10-32) got 24 points including 10-12 at the line for Justin Hurtt to lead the Energy who will play host again to the Skyforce on Saturday night.
