As the thousands of pheasant hunters converge on South Dakota this week, Teri Schmidt of the Convention and Visitors Bureau says they will get a warm welcome at the Sioux Falls Regional Airport.

"It's that time of year!  We've got the annual Pheasant Hunters Welcome at the Sioux Falls Airport.  We'll be there Thursday afternoon and all day Friday welcoming the thousands of hunters."

Teri says the pheasant season is an economic boost to the state and the community.

"We all know that pheasant hunting is a huge economic impact in South Dakota.  We have thousands of hunters flying in to Sioux Falls.  They rent cars, buy groceries, get their licenses and maybe even some extra clothing.  They head west to go hunting."

The hunters will be greeted with gifts, cookies, and coffee along with information on Sioux Falls hotels, restaurants, and attractions.
