South Dakota Guard Trey Dickerson Leaves after One Season

Trey Dickerson - USD

One of the key players the University of South Dakota was counting on to help defend the Coyotes’ first-ever Summit League regular season men’s basketball title is leaving the program after just one season on the floor.

Point guard Trey Dickerson has informed the school of his intentions to play his senior season elsewhere.

Dickerson was USD’s third leading scorer in the 2016-17 season, his first on the floor after sitting out a year following a transfer from the University of Iowa after the 2014-15 season.

The Queens, New York native also led the Coyotes in assists and was selected to the Summit League’s All-Newcomer Team.

In a USD press release, head coach Craig Smith said:

We thanked Trey for his contributions to the University of South Dakota. We respect his decision and we wish him success in his future endeavors.

Dickerson’s departure will leave South Dakota with three returning starters from this season’s Summit League regular season championship team – guards Carlton Hurst and Matt Mooney, and forward Trey Burch-Manning.
