South Dakota High School Basketball Adds Shot Clock to Class A
Class A high school basketball in South Dakota is getting something Class AA has had for the past few years – a shot clock.
This week, the South Dakota High School Activities Association Board of Directors passed the addition of a 35-second shot clock in Class A basketball, effective the 2014-15 season.
Platte-Geddes boys’ coach Frank Cutler told the Mitchell Daily Republic the shot clock will have an immediate impact on the game:
I think it will take away the chance of an upset.
At times you’ll see teams play the clock to upset a more talented team, so we might not see as much of that with this.
But people like to watch games with more scoring and I think the fans will enjoy that.
Class B will be the only class without a shot clock in South Dakota.
