There are two new number one teams in this week's South Dakota Sportswriters football poll.

The 11-man classes have remained consistent this week with each class keeping the same top team. There has been some shake-up in members of the top five, including a new team to enter the 11AAA rankings for the first time. 9AA and 9B features two new number one teams. Let's dive into it.

Class 11AAA

No surprises this week in the 11AAA poll. Roosevelt continues to be the favorite after "one of those Rapid trips" where the lights went out and a thunderstorm rolled through pushing their game to Saturday. They defeated Stevens 38-13. Washington cruised to a 42-14 win over Rapid City Central, while O'Gorman and Brandon Valley both picked up wins over Watertown and Harrisburg respectively. Lincoln has fallen out of the top five after a 15-6 loss to new number five Aberdeen Central. The Golden Eagles are now 3-2 on the season with their two losses to Roosevelt (27-7) and Rapid City Stevens (16-14).

Class 11AA

Harrisburg continues to be the top team in Class 11AA after losing two straight to 11AAA teams. The Tigers get one more 11AAA team this week as they face Aberdeen Central. Mitchell continues to be strong this season after demolishing Spearfish 55-20 last week. They get 11AAA Sioux Falls Lincoln this week. Huron has moved up to third this week after beating Brookings 29-7. Yankton picked up a big, close win over Pierre 23-22 to overtake the Governors in this week's poll.

Class 11A

The Bulldogs keep on running. Madison is 5-0 and in full control of Class 11A but they have a very tough test ahead of them as they travel to third ranked, and also 5-0, Sioux Falls Christian this week. No changes took place in 11A this week as St. Thomas More, Tea Area, and Milbank Area all remain in their previous spots.

Class 11B

So far this season, Winner has been the most dominating team in South Dakota. They, in total, have allowed six points. That happened last week when they defeated fifth ranked Chamberlain 60-6. Groton Area remains in second following a 18-14 win over Aberdeen Roncallli. Tri-Valley and Bridgewater-Emery/Ethan switched positions this week as the Mustangs shutout Lennox 38-0 and Bridgewater-Emery/Ethan suffered a tough 20-14 loss to Tea Area.

Class 9AA

Here's the first new number one team for this week as Canistota takes control of 9AA. They received four first place votes and are coming off two shutout victories. Gregory is 5-0 and they are the team responsible for knocking down the top ranked team last week in Wolsey-Wessington 40-36. Wolsey-Wessington fell from first down to tied for fourth after the loss. Mt. Vernon/Plankinton also benefitted from the Gregory win, as they are now in third.

Class 9A

Sully Buttes is the only 9-man team to remain in first for this week. The Chargers beat Kimball/White Lake 20-18 in overtime. Warner is still a perfect 4-0 and heads into a game this week against Hitchcock-Tulare as the new second ranked team in 9A. Potter County has remained in third, while Castlewood/Estelline and Scotland are tied for fourth.

Class 9B

Corsica-Stickney is the new top team in Class 9B after a 57-6 win over Andes Central/Dakota Christian last week. Harding County and Langford Area both received a single first place vote for this week, but they both are tied for second. This is a drop for Langford Area as they were ranked first last week, and a jump for Harding County who was ranked third. Hamlin and Colome remain unchanged for this week.
