If South Dakota State's women, the Summit League's pre-season favorite, are going to win the 2016-17 conference title, their going to have to do it without their best player.

Junior guard Macy Miller, the conference's Pre-Season Player of the Year is going to miss the rest of the season after suffering a leg injury in the Jackrabbits' 67-43 loss to Green Bay, December 9.

Miller, a Mitchell native, averaged 16 points, five rebounds and three assists per game last year. She was the Summit League Tournament MVP and a first team all-league selection.

SDSU officials say Miller, who started the first nine games of this season, will apply for a medial redshirt from the conference, not the NCAA, because she has not used up her remaining eligibility.

The Jackrabbits got 30 of 34 first place votes in the Summit League pre-season poll,
