The South Dakota women's basketball team isn't wasting anytime with a Summit League 'gut check' in 2014.

The Coyotes find themselves on the road for the first three games of the conference schedule, knowing that wins are hard to come by on foreign soil in this league.

The first in that trio of games was last weekend in Denver, where USD matched the Pioneers basket-for-basket for the first 31 minutes of the game, but went just 3-of-18 down the stretch and had a number of defensive letdowns, losing by 7.

It was the first time leading scorer Nicole Seekamp was on the floor after missing two games, and a considerable amount of practice time, with an ankle injury.  Seekamp did log 31 minutes Sunday in Denver, but struggled to find her shooting touch from the floor (1-for-7), but did make up for it at the free throw line, where she made 11-of-12.

This week's roadtrip starts Thursday night at IUPUI.

The Jags are led offensively by DeAirra Goss, who's averaging 12 points a game, and defensively by Dee-Dee Bellamy, who's in the top ten in the league in steals.

The Coyotes had IUPUI's number in 2013, handing them their only conference defeats and beating them for a third time in the Summit League Tournament semifinals.

Coach Williams knows the challenges her team is facing with this tough early conference schedule:

Tipoff Thursday is 6:00pm CST in Indianapolis.
