SIOUX FALLS, SD -- The Sioux Falls Stampede have acquired defenseman Preston Hodge from the Dubuque Fighting Saints in exchange for a conditional draft pick in the 2013 USHL Draft, head coach Cary Eades announced on Friday.  He is expected to join the team in time for their game tonight at Tri-City. A roster spot became available when the Herd had to place Zach Habscheid on injured reserve.

Hodge (5-foot-11, 190-pounds) appeared in seven games with the Saints this season, registering seven shots and two penalty minutes.

The Bloomington, Ill. native spent last season skating with the Cedar Rapids RoughRiders posting 10 points (2g, 8a) and +3 rating in 50 games. He led the team with 96 penalty minutes.

The 20-year-old spent the 2010-11 season with Faribanks of the North American Hockey League (NAHL), helping them earn a Robertson Cup championship.

The Stampede are traveling to Kearney, Neb. to face the Tri-City Storm at 7:35 PM Friday.  Sioux Falls plays at Sioux City on Sunday at 5:05 PM.
