SIOUX FALLS, SD -- The Sioux Falls Stampede ended one losing streak on Saturday at Fargo and ended another against the Force on Tuesday night in front of 3,379 at the Arena.

Tony Calderone and Zeb Knutson both tallied a goal and an assist each while Art Brey stopped 27 shots in goal as the Herd topped Fargo 4-1 to end a seven game winless streak at home.

The win improved the Herd’s record to 23-14-4 and moved them into sole possession of third place in the Western Conference. Sioux Falls is now 7-0-0 against the Force this season.

Sioux Falls grabbed the first goal of the game midway through the first when Dennis Kravchenko took the puck behind the Fargo net and centered in the slot to Calderone who one-timed the pass past Fargo netminder Brendan Jensen to give Sioux Falls a 1-0 lead. The Herd outshot the Force 11-9 in the period.

Fargo tried to battle back in the second as both teams played strong defense, but the Herd broke through at 17:25 on a goal from Ryan Schwalbe.  Off an offensive zone face-off, Knutson wristed a shot that was stopped by Jensen, but Schwalbe dove in and knocked the puck through his pads and into the back of the net to give Sioux Falls a 2-0 lead heading into the third period. Sioux Falls outshot Fargo 9-7 in the period.

The Herd kept the pedal on the gas in the third, scoring 4:55 in on a goal from Knutson. Dakota Joshua sent a pass to Knutson who broke over the Fargo blue line and blasted a shot from inside the right circle into the upper right hand corner of the net past Jensen to give Sioux Falls a 3-0 edge. A minute later, the Herd made it 4-0 when Keith Burchett took a pass from Calderone down the right wing boards and broke in on a 2-on-1 and stopped inside the right circle before wristing a shot into the upper right-hand corner of the net. Fargo would score a goal later in the period, but that would be the only goal to beat Brey who was solid in goal stopping 27 shots on the night. Brey improved to 5-0-0 against the Force this season.

Sioux Falls outshot the Force 31-28 on the night and finished 0-for-5 on the power play while Fargo was 0-for-3.

The Herd return to action this Friday when they travel to Omaha to face the Lancers at 7:05 PM.
