SIOUX FALLS, SD -- The Sioux Falls Stampede are proud to announce that defenseman Jack Stander has committed to Canisius College and will join the Golden Griffins this season.

The Grosse Pointe Woods, MI native appeared in 49 games last season with the Stampede, registering 7 points (1g, 6a) and 67 penalty minutes. He also skated in six games during the 2012-13 season, recording 2 assists.

Canisius College is located in Buffalo, NY and has an enrollment of 3,349. The Golden Griffins are members of the Atlantic Hockey Conference and are coming off a 17-21-3 season in which they advanced to the Atlantic Hockey championship game after winning four times in the conference playoffs. The Griffins begin their season on October 5th with an exhibition game against Toronto before hosting Western Michigan for a pair of non-conference games on October 10th and 11th.

Stampede players have reported to Sioux Falls and will begin practice Wednesday afternoon in preparation for the upcoming 2014-15 season. The Herd open preseason play next Tuesday, September 9th in Omaha against the Lancers.
