Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference

Sixty-five student athletes from the University of Sioux Falls and 42 from Augustana College have been named to the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Spring All-Academic teams.

More post-season honors for Augustana's Jenelle Trautmann and Theresa McMahon. The Vikings' softball standouts have been named to the Daktronics All-Central Region first team.

Local teams fared well at the NSIC Conference track and field meet at Howard Wood Field. The Augustana men finished in second place while the Viking women were third. The University of Sioux Falls teams both finished fourth.

Sioux Falls’ redshirt junior pole vaulter Brigitte Gross was selected as the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Women’s Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week.

Crosstown rivals earned weekly baseball honors from the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference. University of Sioux Falls pitcher Derek Fischer was named NSIC Pitcher of the Week and Augustana catcher Jack Goihl picked up Player of the Week honors.

The Augustana men's and women's basketball teams are headed to the NCAA DIvision II tournament. The women face Concordia-St. Paul and the men will play Upper Iowa in first round games on Saturday.

The Augustana Vikings returned to the diamond for the first time in three weeks Sunday, falling to the University of Indianapolis 4-2 and Southern Indiana 2-1.
