Ricky Stenhouse, Jr. won the first Sprint Cup pole of his career Friday night at Atlanta Motor Speedway, turning a harrowing lap of 189.688 mph on the 1.54 tri-oval.

Ryan Newman snatched the pole for Sunday's Sprint Cup race away from Jimmie Johnson with a blistering lap of 187.531 mph around Indianapolis Motor Speedway to set a track record for NASCAR races at the Brickyard.
Denny Hamlin has another top spot in his comeback from a back injury. Hamlin turned a lap of 157.978 mph Friday to win the pole at Dover International Speedway. He won the pole last week at Charlotte Motor Speedway and has three overall this season.
