It's been a big time for golf the past two weeks, with the pros crowning their final major winner of the year and South Dakota awarding amateur titles in men's and women's stroke play.

Teaching PGA Professional Todd Kolb from USGolfTV.com talks about Jason Duffner's win at the PGA Championship and some of the struggles of the big name players:

One trend developing at golf majors these days is the rowdy gallery, shouting out all kinds of nonsensical stuff at tee boxes and putting greens.  Todd says it's a sign of the times, but he doesn't believe golfers should have to deal with the distractions:

The PGA Tour is left with just a quartet of events now, as the race for the FedEx Cup starts this week with The Barclay's at Liberty National in Jersey City, New Jersey:

After the individual events are over, there's a big team competition in October, as the US takes on the world at the President's Cup at Muirfield in Dublin, Ohio.  The Americans have dominated this event, winning six straight dating back to 1998.

But on both the men's and women's sides, cup events (Solheim, Ryder, etc.) have been controlled by international teams lately:

In South Dakota, Morgan Fitts capped off a historic year with a win in the women's stroke play championships.  That coupled with her win earlier this summer in the match play event, makes her the first woman in South Dakota history to win both events in the same year.

With the recent SDSU grad winning and incoming Jackrabbit freshman Hallie Getz taking second, while SDSU sophomore Dylan Baker and senior Hudson Carpenter went 1-2 in the men's stroke play event, Jackrabbit golf coach Jared Baszler has plenty to be proud of:

With the school year now here, attention locally turns to the high school boy's fall season where Lincoln is the defending state champs, but the Patriots will have plenty of competition this season:

The fall high school boys championships are October 7-8.  The AA tournament is at Brandon Golf Course, the A tournament is at Central Valley Golf Club in Hartford.
