Tony Stewart won Sunday's NASCAR race at Sonoma. And the race was, by all means, a thriller.

Stewart bulldozed Denny Hamlin into the outside wall in Turn 11 of the 1.99 mile road coarse, executing a dramatic last-lap pass for the victory.

It was Stewart's first win in a long time. The last time he won was June of 2013 at Dover.

And many things have happened since then from injuries to personal tragedy. Since Stewart's last victory he raced at the local Sioux Falls, South Dakota track in a sprint car event.

The next month he broke his leg in a sprint car race in Iowa. In 2014 he was involved in a fatal sprint car incident in New York that put him before a grand jury.

Then he suffered a back injury in an ATV accident early in 2016 that required surgery. That kept him out of the first eight NASCAR races of the season.

And to top it all off, he's in what is to be his final year in NASCAR. Friday he said he wasn't having much fun, but that all changed on Sunday when he won his first NASCAR race in 84 races.

Contact from Stewart's car sent Hamlin's number 11 Toyota fish-tailing into the outside wall, but Hamlin held the runner-up spot, crossing the stripe .625 seconds behind.

Third-place finisher Joey Logano was trailing the action into the final corner, hoping Hamlin and Stewart would take each other out. Carl Edwards, who started on the pole and led 24 laps, finished fourth.

Martin Truex, Jr. was fifth. See where your driver finished.
