ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (AP) - The Toronto Blue Jays say pitcher J.A. Happ is responsive after being hit in the head by a line drive and could be released from a Florida hospital.

Happ is undergoing further tests Wednesday after being taken to Bayfront Medical Center on Tuesday night when he was injured during the second inning of a game against the Tampa Bay Rays.

The team issued a statement Wednesday saying the 30-year-old was "was responsive and doing well after suffering a head contusion and a laceration to his left ear."

The Blue Jays say they anticipate Happ will be released later Wednesday after more tests.
