University of South Dakota Lets Joey James Go
Originally reported by Jay Elsen of Midco Sports Network and later confirmed by Jeff Goodman of ESPN, the University of South Dakota will not retain interim men's basketball coach Joey James.
Joey James was given the head coaching duties on a interim basis back in September of 2013 as longtime head coach Dave Boots abruptly retired.
James played for the school for two seasons and had been an assistant on Dave Boots staff as well.
The Coyotes finished 12-18 this season and were 6-8 in the Summit League. James coached his final game in a loss to Denver in the quarterfinals of the Summit League Tournament.
After his team played their final game, a lot of support on social media sites and from fans at the tournament gave some hope that James would be back but eventually the athletic department decided to go in a different direction.
