Jared Allen is probably one of the most loved Vikings of my generation and possibly of all time. It definitely showed on Sunday as he was introduced by the Minnesota Vikings as the honorary captain against the Los Angeles Rams.

Despite being an absolute force for the Vikings, Allen's organization for military veterans is even more impressive and noteworthy.

Allen was honored as the captain for the Salute to Service game because of the great work that he does for wounded veterans returning home.

He started Jared Allen's Home for Wounded Warriors in 2009 after a USO trip to a US Military Bases in the Middle East when he was with the Carolina Panthers.

Since then Allen's foundation has remodeled or built 9 homes for wounded veterans and currently has 8 more in construction across the country.

What's most impressive is the participation level that Allen has in the nonprofit organization, he personally calls and visits each veteran that is selected.

Salute to you Jared Allen.
