BURNSVILLE, MN — Crosstown rivals earned weekly baseball honors from the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference.

Fischer went 2-0 for the week with one save.  The Brandon native allowed a single earned run in 14.2 innings for a 0.61 earned run average while holding opposing hitters to a .200 batting average.  Fischer tossed a five hitter in the Cougars’ 4-0 victory over Southwest Minnesota State on Tuesday.  Fischer allowed only one extra base hit, struck out eight Mustangs and walked one.

Fischer picked up his second save of the season on Saturday night.  The junior right hander came into the nightcap against Minot State in the bottom of the seventh with runners at the corners and the tying run at the plate.  Fischer retired the next two batters to preserve USF’s 10-7 win.

Sunday, Fischer earned a six hit, complete game victory in the Cougars 5-1 win over Minot State.  He struck out nine, walked three and didn’t allow a hit until the third inning.

For the season, Fischer is 3-6 with a 2.77 ERA.

Goihl had a big week for the Vikings.  The sophomore catcher hit .625 with an .813 slugging percentage.  Goihl was 10-for-16 at the plate with three doubles, 10 RBI and 10 runs scored.
