Gran, Greenman Earn All-American Honors At NCAA Championships

ALLENDALE, MI — The 2014 NCAA Division II Outdoor Track and Field National Championships ended on a high note for the University of Sioux Falls as the Cougars recorded two more All-American honors on the final day of competition.

USF ended the three day championships with three All-American performances from the six athletes who qualified.

Jagger Gran and Scott Greenman each claimed the second All-American honors of their career when they tied for sixth place in the pole vault at 16-8.75 (5.10m). Gran’s previous All-American nod came in the 2013 NCAA Outdoor Championships while Greenman’s came earlier this season at the NCAA Indoor Championships. Gran’s mark was also a personal best and the second highest vault in USF history while Greenman’s vault was just 2.75 inches shy of his school record and career best vault of 16-11.5 which came at the Howard Wood Relays earlier this season.

Jeff Piepenbrink of Pittsburg State claimed the top honors in the pole vault as he cleared the bar at 17-4.5 (5.30m).

Jordon Bents made his first appearance at the NCAA Outdoor Championships as he finished 12th overall in the shot put with his best toss of 54-1 (16.48m). The qualifying mark for the finals was 55-5.75 (16.91m) which was just 0.43m off of Bent’s best mark.

Christopher Reed of Minnesota State claimed the title in the shot put with his toss of 65-4.75 (19.93m) beating the second place finisher by nearly three feet.

USF’s Brigitte Gross earned All-America honors on Thursday with her runner-up finish in the women’s pole vault.
