South Dakota State's own Zach Zenner was becoming a very valuable piece to the Detroit Lions in his rookie campaign in the NFL.

Now though he sees his rookie season come to a end because of injury.

Zenner suffered multiple cracked ribs and a partially collapsed lung in the first half of against the Chicago Bears on Sunday when he was hit by two defenders after a 7-yard run.

Before the injury, Zenner ranked second on the team in rushing with 60 yards on 17 carries.

Jim Caldwell said that Zenner was taken to the hospital during the game because of the severity of the injury.
