BEAVERTON, OR -- After appearances in last season's NCAA Division II playoffs, the Augustana Vikings basketball teams have earned Top 25 preseason rankings.

The Viking women are ranked 16th in the Division II Bulletin Preseason Top 25 poll released on Monday.  Sioux Falls natives Emily Schulte and Shaunteva Ashley and sophomore Riley Nordgaard return from a record-setting Augustana team that finished with a 28-7 record, it's first Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference tournament title and advanced to the semifinals of the NCAA Division II Elite Eight tournament.

Schulte earned NSIC Tournament MVP honors, Ashley was named second team All-NSIC and Nordgaard earned All-NSIC Freshman team honors.

Augustana opens the 2013-14 season against Jamestown on November 16 in the Elmen Center.  The Vikings then begin their 22-game NSIC slate with a trip to Wayne State on November 25.

The Augustana men will open the season ranked No. 22 in the Division II Bulletin Preseason Top 25 Poll.

The Vikings are one of three NSIC teams ranked.  Minnesota State-Mankato is eighth and Winona State 25th.

Augustana was 22-9 overall and 15-7 in the NSIC last season, earning it's 11th appearance in the NCAA Tournament.

The Vikings begin the new season with an exhibition game against Arizona on October 28 in Tucson.  The Vikings begin regular season play in the inaugural Sanford Pentagon Basketball Showcase November 9-10 along with Northern State, Central Missouri and Missouri Western State.
