SIOUX FALLS, SD -- The Vikings fell short for the fifth straight game losing to Minot State 1-0 on Sunday afternoon.  Augustana's record falls to 4-8-2 overall and 3-6-2 in Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference competition.  The Beavers' record jumps to 10-3-1, 8-3-0 in NSIC action.

Augustana once again out-shot the opponent in the first half, this time a 9-4 edge.  The Vikings also had several scoring chances that were turned away in the first half and Maren Werth put the pressure on the Minot State defense with some excellent free kicks, but the Vikings were held scoreless for the third straight half.

Minot State came out firing in the second period taking 13 shots and in the 71st minute, Ryann Rafferty found the back of the net as a Beaver shot deflected off the crossbar and Rafferty put the ball away.

As the tension increased, so did the rough play in the second half.  The Vikings committed eight fouls for the game and the Beavers committed nine.

Werth continued to set up Vikings on set pieces but Minot State held Augustana to just four shots while taking 13 themselves.

Mackenzie Trom almost put away two headers, one in each half, but wasn't able to connect.  Werth finished with a team-high three shots and three other Vikings chipped in with two each.

The Vikings continue their home stand next weekend hosting Winona State and Upper Iowa on Saturday and Sunday, respectively.
