Now that we know the extent of Teddy Bridgewater's injury from yesterday, it's time Vikings fans stop and relax. Obviously you never want to lose your starting quarterback but Minnesota only needs to find a game manager, not a savior for this year.

Bridgewater has been good the past two season but he's been mostly a game manager who hasn't had to beat a defense by taking over the game. With the best running back in football Adrian Peterson behind him, nor should he have to.

Vikings fans need to calm down and realize that they just need to find a quarterback that will hand the ball off to AP and not turn the ball over when they need him to pass. The Minnesota defense is going to be very stout and has the potential to be a top ranked defense this season.

Minnesota doesn't need to go find someone who is going to dominate the game by throwing for 300 yards and 3 touchdowns. In 30 games, Bridgewater has only had five 300 yard games and one game where he's thrown over two touchdowns.

I personally think that Bengals backup A.J. McCarron is the best option for the Vikings. He took over after Andy Dalton went down and had manageable numbers. McCarron threw for 854 yards with a 66.4 completion percentage, two touchdowns and two interceptions in four games.

He also would have a playoff win against the Steelers had Jeremy Hill not fumbled and Vontaze Burfict avoided the personal foul against Antonio Brown. McCarron would be a good player to have going into next season too because I think the Vikings need to assume that Bridgewater won't be ready until a year from now.

However, McCarron wouldn't be cheap if the Bengals even consider trading him. Minnesota would have to give up something significant to get him, so I think it's unlikely they will make a trade with Cincinnati's backup but he's their best realistic option.
