ESPN 1500 reported yesterday, Minnesota Vikings defensive tackle Pat Williams will retire, just one day after re-signing with the team.

Williams hasn't played with the Vikings since 2010, and is 40 years old. Williams totaled 466 total tackles, 20.5 sacks, nine forced fumbles, eight fumble recoveries, and an interception in his career with Buffalo and Minnesota.

Going into the NFL Draft Thursday, the Vikings have Kevin Williams and Christian Ballard on their depth chart as defensive tackles. The Vikings own two first round picks, and could select a defensive tackle, as Kevin Williams isn't getting any younger (32 years old), either.

North Carolina's Sylvester Williams, Georgia's Jonathan Jenkins, Ohio State's Jonathan Hawkins, and Purdue's Kawaan Short will more than likely be the top rated defensive tackles on the board at this time.

Minnesota has draft picks No. 23 and 25. The Vikings draft needs are linebacker, defensive line, wide receiver, and cornerback.

The NFL Draft begins Thursday, and continues into Saturday.
