Former Washington High School standout Kari Heck has capped her freshman track season at Nebraska with a 18th place finish in the women's long jump at the NCAA Division I Championships in Eugene, Oregon.

Heck jumped 16' 3" in her first attempt, fouled in her second attempt, and saved her best effort for her third and final jump, 19' 9".

Heck's best jump at Nebraska this season was 20' 6 1/2".  She was fifth in the big Ten Championships, jumping 19' 3 1/2".

Heck was a two-time South Dakota AA long jump champion at Washington, winning the state meet in 2011 and 2012.  She also won nine other state championships in running events at 100, 200, and 400 meters, as well as the 4x400 meter relay.
