After Dave Joerger spurned Minnesota and returned to Memphis, the Timberwolves are back at the drawing board.

The next man up is reportedly former Chicago Bulls and Los Angeles Clippers head coach Vinny Del Negro, via ESPN's Marc Stein.

Former Minnesota forward and Toronto Raptors head coach Sam Mitchell is also an option for the Timberwolves. Other names that have been mentioned, and have interviewed with the team are Lionel Hollins, and Scott Skiles. George Karl has also expressed interest.

Going back to Del Negro, his last job was with the Clippers and was fired after a first-round exit in the playoffs in 2013. He's 210-184 as a head coach in five seasons in the NBA.

Hiring a head coach is Minnesota's first priority, and it's come with some bad timing as the future of star forward Kevin Love looms in the distance. (Love can opt out after next year).

Love is probably gone regardless of the new head coach, but after examining Del Negro's track record, it likely wouldn't help keep him in the Twin Cities. Both the Bulls and Clippers were better the year after Del Negro left both franchises. Chicago won 41 more games in 2010-2011. Los Angeles only won more game with Doc Rivers this past season, but won a playoff series.

The former Chicago and Los Angeles head coach has two .500 seasons, one losing season, and two winning seasons as head coach.

He may not be the best option, but if the Wolves are unable to lure a top name like Hollins, or Karl, they may have to settle for a coach like Del Negro. Heck, perhaps Saunders may decide to take the reins on the sidelines again at the Target Center.

What do you think? Should the Timberwolves hire Del Negro, or let Flip Saunders keep looking?
