Wild Will Have at Least 5 Players in World Cup of Hockey
ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) — The Minnesota Wild will have at least five representatives in the World Cup of Hockey this fall.
Preliminary 16-man rosters were revealed Wednesday, with seven more players to be selected for each of the eight teams set to compete in the tournament in Toronto from Sept. 17-Oct. 1.
Left wing Zach Parise and defenseman Ryan Suter were named to Team USA, centers Mikael Granlund and Mikko Koivu were picked for Team Finland and left wing Thomas Vanek was selected for Team Europe, which is composed of players born in countries outside of the Czech Republic, Finland, Russia and Sweden. Vanek is the only Austrian on Team Europe.
