Respect the orange is a phrase bandied about in basketball parlance.  It means take care of the ball.  As the Sioux Falls Skyforce beat the Springfield Armor 112-94 at MassMutual Center on Saturday night, the two teams combined for 34 turnovers.

As the home team coughed it up, the visitors pounced as the Armor’s 25 miscues led to numerous fast breaks for Sioux Falls (8-2) in pushing the win streak to 5 games.  Benefiting the most by scoring or snatching were DeAndre Liggins (20 points), Charlie Westbrook (20 points), Justin Hamilton (16 points, 4 steals) and Larry Drew II (13 points, 5 steals).

Springfield (1-9) had the luxury of using 12 players after the Brooklyn Nets assigned Tornike Shengelia (11 points) and Tyshawn Taylor (15 points) to their NBA affiliate prior to the game.  Willie Reed was the best in show for the Armor with 21 points on 10-11 shooting from the floor and 7 rebounds.

Springfield will try again Sunday as they host the Maine Red Claws.  Sioux Falls will head home to play the Iowa Energy on Christmas Day.
