The Winnipeg Goldeyes picked up their 10th straight win on Tuesday night, defeating the Sioux Falls Canaries by the final score of 4-3 at Sioux Falls Stadium.

Canaries starting pitcher Dylan Thompson made his scheduled start on Tuesday night after dealing with flu-like symptoms over the weekend. The right-hander battled, but left the game after giving up three runs on six hits over three innings.

The Birds offense got on the board in the bottom of the 4th inning after Darwin Perez led off the inning with a double down the left field line, and later scored on a David Bergin one-out RBI single. Bergin scored on a B.J. Guinn two-out RBI double to make it a one run game before Carnes threw a wild pitch to the back stop to bring home J.C. Linares from third base to tie the game up at 3-3.

Left-hander Josh Ferrell was the first out of the bullpen for the birds, retiring the first eight batters he faced before giving up a two-out double to Mikol Gonzalez in the top of the 6th inning. It was the only hit Ferrell allowed over his three innings of relief with the southpaw racking up four strikeouts along the way.

Shawn Blackwell took the mound in the top of the 7th inning with the game still locked up in a 3-3 tie, but Willie Cabrera reached base on an error and later scored the go-ahead run on a Jacob Rogers RBI single. Blackwell (6-7, 6.97 ERA) suffered the loss for the Birds who have now lost four in a row.

Ethan Carnes earned the win for the Goldeyes after holding the Canaries to three runs on seven hits over 7 2/3 innings of work. Brandon Shimo picked up his second save of the season after a 1-2-3 bottom of the 9th inning.

Darwin Perez finished the night going 2-for-4 at the plate with a double and run scored. J.C. Linares was also 2-for-4 on the night, collecting a pair of single to go along with his run scored.

The Canaries wrap up their eight game homestand on Wednesday afternoon with the final Discovery Learning Center Daycare Day Game of the 2016 season. Gates open at 11:00 AM, with first pitch scheduled for 12:05 PM at the Birdcage.
