MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Flip Saunders heads into his first draft in charge of the Minnesota Timberwolves with one big need, and two big chances to address it.

The Timberwolves were the worst team in the league in 3-point shooting last season and need a big guard to play alongside Ricky Rubio and knock down open jumpers.

The Wolves have two choices in the first round on Thursday night — No. 9 and No. 26.

Saunders has had discussions with several teams above the Timberwolves in hopes of moving up to get Indiana’s Victor Oladipo. If the Wolves can’t swing a deal, Georgia’s Kentavious Caldwell-Pope and Lehigh’s C.J. McCollum are two possibilities.

The Timberwolves could also consider Indiana big man Cody Zeller with their first first-round pick.
