Zak Brown Turns Down IndyCar CEO Job

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) - Zak Brown tells The Associated Press he has turned down an offer to become CEO of the IndyCar Series.

Brown will instead remain with the motorsports marketing company he founded. Brown also says he will relocate from the Indianapolis area to England to continue the growth of Just Marketing International.

Brown's decision comes a day after IndyCar named Derrick Walker head of competition. Brown says Walker's hiring played no role in him turning down the CEO job.

Brown had already been contemplating a move to Europe with his family when discussions began about running IndyCar with the head of parent company Hulman & Co. Brown says he told Mark Miles he'd still like to help IndyCar, but won't be able to do it from the CEO role.
