The golf world is still buzzing about the performance  of PGA Tour unknown Derek Ernst at last weekend's Wells Fargo Championship.  Ernst, the 1,207th best player in the world, got a last minute call to play in the event, and he ended up winning in a playoff.

4 Deep Golf Blog's Joel Harrington talked with ESPN 99.1's Jeff Harkness about the improbable win.

Also last weekend, O'Gorman High School junior Max Donohue shot a 4-under 68 at Prairie Green in Sioux Falls to grab one of three qualifying spots for a U.S. Open sectional qualifier in June.

As for this year's Open, it will be played at Merion Golf Club in Pennsylvania next month, and the course will have a different look.  At each hole, Merion will have wicker baskets, instead of flags, a top the sticks.  So what's the story behind the baskets?

Also making news this week, the 2013 class of the World Golf Hall of Fame.  Among the inductees: Fred Couples, Ken Venturi, and Colin Montgomerie, who goes into the hall despite never winning a major championship.
