Boys Basketball: Patriots Fall in Sioux City

The Lincoln High boys basketball team played another ranked team Saturday night and fell behind by double digits in the third quarter and didn’t have enough in the tank to overcome the big deficit.

The Patriots fell behind 30-10 to undefeated Sioux City East(14-0), rated No. 5 in the latest Iowa 4A poll, and could never get any closer than five points, eventually dropping a 79-73 decision.

Lincoln (6-4) made things interesting, nailing 11 three-pointers while the host Black Raiders  sank only 20-of-37 free throws.

The Patriots trailed by 13 Friday at Huron and fell by two points after tying the game.

It was the Patriots that came out flat and couldn’t defend their goal and gave the Raiders easy shots and several offensive rebounds.

East outrebounded Lincoln 16-3 in the first eight minutes and grabbed a 23-8 lead capped by a 12-0 run.

It was the fourth loss in five games for Lincoln as senior guard Adam Jaros led them with a 26-point night, hitting four three-pointers and all 10 of his free throws. The Patriots also got 17 points from 6-5 sophomore center Addison Park

Marcel Dunson had 28 for East. We will see if ends up playing football in the Northern Sun at Wayne St as a wide receiver.
