Two parks at the north end of downtown Sioux Falls could join the list of city parks where alcohol is prohibited.

The Parks and Recreation Board will consider banning alcohol from Van Eps Park and Tower Park at its August 19th meeting.

Parks officials say complaints about alcohol consumption have prompted the consideration in both parks.

Van Eps Park is located at 7th Street and Minnesota Avenue, and Tower Park is at North Main Avenue and West McClellan Street.

If the ordinance amendment is approved, October 3rd is the earliest date it could take effect.

Alcohol is currently prohibited at ten other city parks.
