There's guaranteed good news and potentially great news for one youth hockey program in the Sioux Empire. The Brandon Valley Hockey Association is one of four national finalists in the Hockeyville contest, sponsored by Kraft Foods.

The good news? The Brandon Valley Ice Cats are assured of at least a $10,000 ice rink upgrade by making the final four.

But if Brandon Valley receives more votes than the other three finalists, that upgrade jumps to $150,000 and would bring a NHL pre-season game to the PREMIER Center in Sioux Falls, hosted by the Brandon Valley Hockey Association.

Brandon Valley is vying with Clinton, New York; Middlebury, Vermont; and Shreeveport, Louisiana for the top award.

Second place is a $30,000 rink upgrade. The third and fourth place finishers get $10,000 in rink improvements.

Voting opens at 11:00 PM Thursday, April 12 and closes Saturday, April 14 at 10:00 AM Central time.
