Brock Lesnar might be putting the WWE on hold and stepping back into the UFC octagon.

Rumors are swirling that Lesnar, the current WWE Universal Champion, will be making a return to the UFC in late 2017. The original rumor was that the UFC and Lesnar were aiming for UFC 217 at Madison Square Garden. No opponent has been specified with the rumor.

Lesnar last appeared in the UFC at UFC 200 on July 9, 2016. Following his win over Mark Hunt, Lesnar tested positive twice for a banned substance under the USADA. One test occurred a couple of weeks prior to the contest (out of contest), with the second test coming back as positive (in contest) following the event. His win was overturned and he was suspended for one year from the date of the event.

Well, that one year has passed on the calendar. Here comes the pain? Well, maybe not that quick.

All signs point to Lesnar returning to the UFC being all but done. The question seems to be when at this point. If UFC 217 doesn't work, Lesnar could be in line to be a headliner for the UFC 219 card in Las Vegas on December 30, 2017.

Lesnar is currently under contract with the WWE until Wrestlemania 34.
