IRVING, Texas (AP) - Bill Callahan will call the plays for the Dallas Cowboys in 2013.

So says owner Jerry Jones, and even Callahan confirmed it. Just don't expect acknowledgement soon from coach Jason Garrett, the play-caller since joining the staff in 2007.

After Jones strongly suggested Tuesday that Callahan would call plays and the former Oakland coach said it was "a real honor" to have the role, Garrett would only say that the same plan had been in place for a long time.

Garrett was hired as offensive coordinator six years ago and kept the play-calling duties when he replaced Wade Phillips as head coach halfway through the 2010 season.

Jones first hinted about Callahan taking over that role at the Senior Bowl in January.
