FARGO, ND -- In a wild back-and-forth game in Fargo that took nearly three and a half hours to complete, the Sioux Falls Canaries emerged victorious over the RedHawks 9-5 on Tuesday.

Scoring seven runs in the final four innings, the bats led the Canaries back from a 5-2 deficit.  The win was the Canaries first when they trailed after seven innings.

The game got off to a rocky start as the RedHawks jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the 1st off a Ronnie Bourquin homer.  Making his first start of the season, Matt Wickswat settled down and didn't allow another run the rest of his day, which lasted four innings.

The bats for the Canaries got two of those runs back in the 3rd when Carlos Mendez drove in Kevin Dultz with a single and Chase Burch hit a sacrifice fly to score Steve Tinoco.  The momentum was short-lived as the RedHawks tagged reliever Kyle Kingsley for two runs on three hits and extended their lead to 5-2.

The Canaries were the only birds to chirp the rest of the way, scoring twice in the 6th on Stephen Branca's double off the wall.  Back within striking distance, the Canaries tied the game when Chris Duffy scored on a wild pitch and then took the lead when two runs scored on Brandon Jones single.  Leading 8-5 heading to the 9th, the Canaries were looking for insurance and Kevin Dultz provided it with an RBI single.  Josh Giles tossed a second inning of scoreless ball in the bottom half and the Canaries evened the series against Fargo with the rubber game set for 7:05 PM Wednesday night.

John Brebbia earned the win, throwing the 6th and 7th innings whie not allowing a run.  The hard-throwing righthander struck out two and improved to 2-1 on the season.  Giles was lights out in the 8th and 9th to keep Fargo off the board for the final four frames.

The Canaries return to The Birdcage for an eight-game homestand beginning Thursday night at 7:05 PM against Kansas City.
