South Dakota Highway Patrol and Department of Transportation officials caution travelers on Interstate 29 that traffic could be slowed temporarily Thursday because of an incident  near the Tea exit south of Sioux Falls.

Captain Kevin Joffer of the Highway Patrol says in a press release that the incident occurred when a northbound dump truck with its box raised struck an overhead highway sign. The sign then fell to the roadway and struck a vehicle, which caused an injury.  No further details were given.

Traffic was backed up on that section of intestate while debris from the overhead sign was cleared. Joffer said traffic flow has been restored but is likely to be reduced to one lane temporarily as the investigation continues. He asked motorists traveling along Interstate 29 to be aware of that possibility between Exit 75 and Exit 73 for the rest of the afternoon.
