One person died in a two-vehicle crash on South Dakota Highway 42 about 22 miles west of Sioux Falls on Thursday.  The crash occurred just after 8 o’clock in the morning.

A 2008 KIA Sedona was traveling east on Highway 42 and nearing the intersection with 447th Avenue. A northbound 2007 Peterbilt semi-truck stopped at the stop sign on 447th Avenue and then pulled onto the highway to turn west. The KIA struck the trailer of the semi-truck.

The driver of the KIA was not wearing a seatbelt and was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Peterbilt was not injured.

Names are being withheld until relatives have been notified. No further information is immediately available and the South Dakota Highway Patrol is investigating.
