Deshaun Watson’s Season Comes to a Sudden End; Tears ACL in Practice
According to Dan Gartland of Sports Illustrated, as first reported by ESPN's Adam Schefter, Houston Texans Deshaun Watson's rookie season has come to an sudden end after the quarterback tore his ACL in practice.
The injury comes less than a week after Watson’s best game of his young season. In a shootout loss to the Seahawks, Watson threw for 402 yards and four touchdowns while rushing for another 67 yards. He is the only player in NFL history to have more than 400 passing yards, 50 rushing yards and four touchdown passes in a single game.
There's little doubt that Watson would have been the front-runner for Rookie of the Year. Now the team is left with just one quarterback on their roster - Tom Savage, who made it through just one half of one game this season.
No word yet on who the Texans will target to back-up Savage, or if the team will look to sign a new starter. Colin Kapernick anyone?
