PIERRE, S.D. (AP) — As Major League Baseball's All-Star Game approaches, the Cultural Heritage Center in Pierre is reminding fans of its ongoing exhibit that traces the history of baseball in South Dakota.

"Play Ball! The National Pastime in South Dakota" explores the sport from South Dakota's territorial era to the present through artifacts, images, video and hands-on activities geared for people of every age.

Among the items on display are materials from a collection of Northern League paraphernalia donated by Aberdeen native Paul Gertsen.

Two South Dakota women who played in the All-American Girls Professional Baseball League are also featured in the exhibit, as well as Hall of Fame players James "Cool Papa" Bell and Jim Palmer.

The exhibit runs through April 2016.
