CHICAGO, IL -- The United States Hockey League announced Monday that Chad Duchesne has been named CCM Defensive Player of the Week and David Jacobson has been named Reebok Co-Goaltender of the Week. It marks the first time this season that two players from the Sioux Falls Stampede have captured the award in the same week. Both played key roles in helping lead the Stampede to a three point weekend.

Duchesne assisted on the Stampede’s second goal in a 4-3 shootout loss to Waterloo on Friday before recording two goals in the first period in a 6-0 rout of Tri-City on Saturday. Duchesne tallied the first and third goals of three-goal first period and finished the night with a plus-2 rating. The Inverary, Ontario native was the Stampede’s first round draft choice in the 2013 Phase 2 USHL Draft. He has recorded 10 points (3g, 7a) in 17 games this season and has already committed to play collegiate hockey at Northeastern University.

Jacobson was in goal for both of the Stampede games this past weekend, making a combined 57 saves. On Friday, Jacobson turned aside 39 of 42 shots in regulation and overtime and then stopped 9 of 12 Waterloo skaters in the shootout, helping the Stampede earn a point. On Saturday, he recorded his first career USHL shutout with 18 saves against Tri-City. The Los Angeles, Calif. native is 4-0-1 with a 1.18 goals-against-average (GAA) and a .959 save percentage over his last five starts. On the year, Jacobson is 8-2-1 with a 2.19 GAA and a .922 save percentage.

Duchesne, Jacobson and the Stampede return to action this weekend when they close out their five-game homestand with games against Indiana and Fargo, Friday and Saturday night. Game times are 7:05 PM each night.
