"Aaron Earl Short: One Man Traveling Front Porch Show

A one-man band performance from a well-seasoned songwriter & storyteller, Dobro slidin’, guitar pickin’, harmonica wailin’ & stomp box stompin’ musician.

Emerging with his full solo sound, Short has released WATCHLIST, his latest collection of personal politically charged songs. WATCHLIST strikes at the politically-charged atmosphere gripping our lives and points to an ever widening social and economic divide. With these songs as armor, he has taken to the road.

Performing live is a committed passion that not everyone has the road weary troubadour nature to pursue, but for Short, it is a great fit. Performing live and entertaining audiences is what he is built for. With a large repertoire of cover songs and very relatable likable solo material, he is able to keep his dream of performing alive and well.

There's a worn and weathered honesty to Aaron Earl Short's pistol-whip songwriting and self-inflicted humor he's developed on stage over the past 20 years. To get to know Short and his music is to get to know a true song man.

With the songwriting style of Kris Kristofferson and the musical energy of John Hiatt, he continues to engage and grow audiences of all styles. Through the years of performing, Short has adapted his material to fit into a variety of festivals, venues, bars, coffee shops and street corners.

"His sharply honest lyrics and bluesy sound have drawn fans from around the country." - Chad Taylor, Cityview

Short has performed at Des Moines, Iowa’s nationally renowned 80/35 Music Festival, Winter Blues Fest, The Des Moines Art Fest, Greatday KCWI/CW Iowa Live, Iowa Public Radio’s Studio One, Peddalers Jamboree, Iowa State Fair, Des Moines Downtown Farmers Market, Botanical Blues, Rocket Suzie Music Festival, Junk Stock (NE), Sunfest (OR). Short has participated in the International Folk Alliance (MO) and Folk Alliance Regional Midwest (IA) music conferences. He also hosts a radio program, Iowa Homegrown, on KFMG 98.9, in Des Moines (IA).

Growing up in the Midwest, Short wrote and played rock and roll, folk, Americana, blues, country and roots, landing where he is today: a music mutt.

He was born into music and grew up in a musical house. His Mom, Dad and his brothers are all musicians. He performed his early years with his brothers in the band, Erosion. That morphed into The Creek Dwellers, an electric rock-and-roll band that performed for a decade. Short has also competed in the 2015 Iowa Blues Challenge, placing first in the preliminary round and runner up in the finals with the Eastside Brothers, a duo with his brother, Rob Short.

Short performs with his wife, Kat Darling in the folk & roll duo, The High Crest. They continue to perform as a duo and make family-style music with their daughter, Abileen (9 yr), and their son, Rockwell (11 mo). His solo endeavors are now even more important to his family’s independent small music business, 5 of Hearts Productions, the LLC partnership of Aaron Earl Short and Kat Darling established 2013."
