Ex-Louisville Basketball Player Cleared of Rape Charge

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) — An attorney for former University of Louisville basketball player Chris Jones says the star point guard hopes to resurrect his career after he was cleared of allegations that he sexually assaulted two women at a party near campus.

A grand jury in Louisville declined Wednesday to indict Jones on rape and sodomy charges stemming from the Feb. 22 incident.

Jones, a senior, was kicked off the nationally ranked team for missing curfew a day before the rape allegations surfaced.

His attorney, Scott Cox, told reporters Jones wants to pursue a professional career but didn't elaborate on where he might seek to play.

Two other men also were cleared of rape and sodomy charges stemming from the same incident.
