SIOUX CITY, IA -- The road didn't prove to be as friendly to the Sioux Falls Canaries as the Birds fell to the Sioux City Explorers Saturday night by a score of 10-2.

The trouble started in the bottom of the first inning as Kyle Ruwe walked the leadoff batter and allowed three hits, leading to two runs.  Peter Barrows hit homeruns in the 2nd and 3rd innings for the Explorers who built a 6-0 lead after three innings and never looked back.

Ruwe lasted 4 2/3 innings allowing nine runs and suffered the loss.

Lefthander Matt Wickswat was a bright spot for the Canaries as he allowed just one run in 3 1/3 innings of relief.  More importantly, his ability to eat innings ensured that the Canaries will have a fresh bullpen for Sunday's series finale at The Birdcage.

Offensively, Chris Valencia had two hits and Kevin Dultz and Carlos Mendez each drove in a run. The loss drops the Canaries to 2-1 while the Explorers improve to 1-2.

Sunday is Bark in the Park day at The Birdcage as all fans are invited to bring their dogs to the ballpark.  First pitch is scheduled for 4:05 PM.
