A weekend saturation patrol by Sioux Falls police ended with five motorists being arrested for driving while intoxicated.

Lieutenant David McIntire says the saturation ran from 7pm Saturday to 3am Sunday.

He says in addition to the five DWI arrests, the officers wrote 114 citations and gave out  40 verbal warnings.

McIntire says the ten officers working the saturation patrol covered 23 complaint zones that had been reported by the public or identified by officers as problem areas.

He says they also stopped ten drivers with revoked or suspended licenses or no licenses at all, and fifteen motorists who did not have proof of insurance with them.
