The opening of the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia is a little more than a month away and a former Sioux Falls Stampede player will be representing the U.S. on the ice.

Forward T.J. Oshie is one of 25 players on the Team USA roster; the first time ever former Stampede has made an Olympic squad. The Everett, Washington native played for the Herd during the 2004-05 season.

The 27-year old is currently in his sixth season in the NHL with the St. Louis Blues and leads the team with 27 assists.

After playing in Sioux Falls, Oshie played from 2005 to 2008 at the University of North Dakota. He was selected 24th overall by St. Louis during the 2005 NHL Entry Draft.
The U.S. men's hockey teams begins play in Sochi February 13th against Slovakia.  The gold medal game is February 23rd.
